Teaching

Private tuition and school music classes across Merseyside — for all ages, all abilities, and all levels of experience.

Private Lessons

One-to-one tuition tailored to you — wherever you're starting from and whatever you want to achieve.

I've been teaching music privately for over 25 years, working with students from age five to their seventies. Some come wanting to learn a specific song; others are working towards an ABRSM exam. Most just want to enjoy playing more. Whatever your goal, I'll work with you at your pace.

I currently have availability for new students. A free trial lesson is the best place to start.

What I teach

Ukulele

Whether you've never picked up an instrument before or you're looking to develop your technique further — ukulele is one of the most rewarding and accessible instruments to learn, at any age.

Percussion

Snare, tuned percussion, and full orchestral percussion repertoire. I've specialised in percussion since I was thirteen and have taught it at all levels, including exam preparation.

Children

I love teaching children — I've worked with young learners throughout my career and I know how to keep sessions engaging and fun. I'm DBS checked and safeguarding trained, and I'm experienced in working with children with additional needs including ADHD, autism, and dyspraxia.

Adults (all levels)

You're never too old to start. I've helped complete beginners in their forties, fifties, and beyond pick up an instrument for the first time — and helped adult learners who played as children rediscover their love of music. No judgement, no pressure.

Exam preparation

I'm experienced in preparing students for ABRSM examinations across percussion disciplines.

"Rosie has been teaching my daughter for two years and the progress has been incredible. She's patient, encouraging, and really knows how to keep lessons fun and engaging."

Sarah M.

Parent

"I came to Rosie as a complete beginner at 45, convinced I was too old to learn music. Within a few months I was playing songs I never thought I'd manage."

David L.

Adult Student

"My son has ADHD and has struggled with traditional lessons in the past. Rosie's approach is so flexible and understanding — he's made more progress in six months than I could have imagined."

School Music Classes

Whole-class music tuition for Merseyside primary schools — inclusive, curriculum-aligned, and delivered by an experienced specialist.

I deliver whole-class music lessons in primary schools across Merseyside, teaching ukulele, recorder, and percussion to pupils at Key Stages 1 and 2. Sessions are designed to be inclusive from the ground up — every child participates, whatever their ability or background.

I'm actively seeking new school partnerships and I'm happy to discuss what would work best for your setting.

What's included

Whole-class ukulele tuition

Group lessons for full classes, aligned to the National Curriculum for Music. I provide all the instruments and materials.

Percussion

Available as part of a broader programme or as standalone sessions.

A great option if you want to enrich your curriculum without a longer-term commitment. Celtic folk music and dance workshops are particularly popular.

Inclusive by design

Music should be for everyone. I have extensive experience working with pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities. I adapt every session to ensure that every pupil can participate, progress, and feel confident.

I'm happy to liaise with your SENCO to discuss specific requirements before a programme begins.

National Curriculum alignment

My lessons support the National Curriculum for Music at Key Stages 1 and 2, helping pupils to play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, listen with concentration and understanding, and appreciate a wide range of music. Sessions complement your school's existing provision and are designed to show measurable progress.

Pricing

Pricing is tailored to your school's needs — it depends on the number of sessions, class sizes, and programme length. Get in touch and I'll put together a quote.

"Rosie has been working with our school for three years and the transformation in our pupils' confidence and musicality has been remarkable. She adapts seamlessly to different needs and creates an environment where every child feels they can succeed."

James T.

Headteacher

"As a SENCO, I've been particularly impressed by Rosie's ability to include and inspire our pupils with complex needs. She's thoughtful, patient, and genuinely committed to every child's progress."

Rachel P.

SENCO

"Our pupils with autism can find group activities challenging, but Rosie's lessons are always a highlight for them. She creates a calm, structured environment where they feel safe to participate."

Workshops

Participatory music sessions — everyone joins in, no experience needed.

Workshops are a different kind of booking — rather than watching a performance, your group gets to make the music themselves. Sessions are relaxed, inclusive, and genuinely fun. I'll guide everyone through at a pace that works for the group, and I promise nobody will be put on the spot.

I work with all ages and sizes of group, and can tailor the session to your event or theme.

Ukulele Group Sessions

A guided ukulele workshop for community groups, clubs, and societies. Perfect for visiting an existing group or bringing people together for a one-off session.

Children's and Birthday Workshops

Fun, age-appropriate music sessions for children's groups and birthday parties. Hands-on, energetic, and full of laughter.

Corporate Team-Building

An unusual and genuinely enjoyable alternative to standard team activities. No musical experience needed — the focus is on participation, not performance.

PTA and Family Groups

Parents and children making music together. A lovely way to build confidence and create shared memories.

Sessions run from one to two hours depending on the group. I bring all the instruments and materials — just provide the space.
